For the first time Zurich Crickets CC, with the help of SwissFOCUS, will run a scoring course in March and an umpiring course in April for its members. SwissFOCUS, the Swiss Federation of Umpires & Scorers, is responsible for training umpires and scorers to officiate in the Swiss Cricket Association’s competitions.
The courses will take place as follows:
• Saturday 16th March - Scoring Course (13:00-15:30) at the Kantonsschule Hottingen with Mira Koshy (Bern)
This course is open to ZCCC junior players, as well as everyone else involved with the club and who would like to help out. It is essential that a number of players take advantage of this
opportunity, especially all those aged over 12 years, so that players can in future take on this responsibility during training and competitive matches.
• Saturday April 6th - Umpiring Course (13:00-17:30) at the Kantonsschule Hottingen with Alex Mackay (Winterthur)
This course is open to our 17 players as well as all our coaches, managers and parents. Good and competent umpiring ensures the smooth running of cricket matches. The art of making correct and
quick decisions on the cricket field is essential and takes practice. This could be the start of a career in umpiring!
For all those who successfully complete a course certificates will be awarded by SwissFOCUS.
Places on these courses are limited so if you would like to register for either or these courses, or both of them, please contact one of the ZCCC coaches without delay.
