Schweiz 199 for 8 beat Suisse 95 all out by 104 runs
The U13 game followed on from the U11 game. The U13 Schweiz side contained 6 Zurich Crickets and 5 Basel Dragons and the game was played over 30 overs in bright sunshine at
the splendid ground in Cossonay.
The Suisse team wonthe toss and asked the Schweiz to bat first. Captain Chris Langford and Callum Wright opened the batting and were intent on seeing off the opening bowlers Tom Bews and Nish.
Chris fell LBW to Tom but Callum batted sensibly and after 10 overs, the Schwiez team were happy to be 50 for 2. Callum got good support from Ishandeep Singh who made 11, Callum eventually
falling for 19. At 20 overs,with the score on 115 for 6, the innings was in the balance. However, Luke Specogna began to connect with some hefty blows ably supported by Ed Clayton and the score
accelerated. The Suisse bowling became a little wayward and the
innings finished on 199 for 8, Luke finishing 35 not out and Ed 30 not out.
This was always going to be a challenging score for the Suisse team and after James West picked up 2 wickets in his first 2 overs, the Schweiz team were in control. All 10
outfield players bowled 2 overs each and all bowled well with a minimum of wides. The pick of the bowlers was Will Clayton who finished with 2 wickets for 3 runs, supported by James West 2
for 14, Ed Clayton 1 for 5, Dayn Pariaug 1 for 8, Hamish Graham 1 for 8, ChrisLangford 1 for 0 and Ishandeep Singh 1 for 8. Only Arnaud made double figures for the Suisse team and the
innings finished in the 24th over with the score on 95, Schweiz therefore winning the game by 104 runs
